KidsKonnect is de Nederlandse marktleider op gebied van software voor de kinderopvang en het basisonderwijs en biedt een platform voor kinderopvangorganisaties, basisscholen, gastouders en gastouderbureaus en buitenschoolse opvang. Vandaag de dag bedient KidsKonnect meer dan 1 miljoen kinderen tussen de 0 en 12 jaar, 2 miljoen ouders, X duizend pedagogisch medewerkers en onderwijzers in Nederland en België.

KidsKonnect is een van de snelst groeiend softwarebedrijven in Nederland en biedt een slim, gebruikersvriendelijk en flexibel product. Het platform biedt een uitgebreid pakket aan diensten op gebied van kindplanning, medewerkersplanning, ontwikkeling van kinderen en een ouderportaal voor communicatie en self service.

KidsKonnect is op weg om marktleider in Europa te worden. Er is een enorme uitdaging en kans om het platform van de toekomst voor de kinderopvang en het basisonderwijs mee te ontwikkelen. Op dit moment breidt KidsKonnect haar organisatie uit om meer innovatie naar de markt te brengen en de gebruiker centraal te stellen in al haar producten

Over de rol

Er is nu een unieke kans voor een ervaren Head of Design die impact wil maken in een maatschappelijk relevante branche. KidsKonnect is op zoek naar een design professional die enthousiast is om de volgende generatie van het platform voor de kinderopvang en het basisonderwijs te ontwikkelen. Als Head of Design bouw, leid en onderhoud je een schaalbaar, efficiënt en creatief design team.  

In deze functie

  • Zorg je voor een geheel nieuwe gebruikerservaring van het grote aantal verschillende KidsKonnect gebruikers op het platform
  • Effen je mede het pad voor KidsKonnect om Europees marktleider te worden door het ontwikkelen en uitvoeren van de design visie op de volgende generatie van technologie voor kinderopvang en onderwijs
  • Creëer je een schaalbare, consistente, intuïtieve en gebruikersvriendelijke ervaring
  • Ontwikkel je de design visie, vertegenwoordig je design in de organisatie en bouw je een design team van wereldklasse, terwijl je zelf ook pragmatisch blijft
  • Ontwikkel je design concepten en creatief materiaal
  • Geef je leiding aan designers in de verschillende teams
  • Begeleidt je design workshops met de product teams om de roadmap te informeren
  • Draag je zorg voor een efficiënt design proces met alle product teams waarbij je best practices processen en tools gebruikt zoals Figma
  • Je rapporteert aan de CPO  

Over jou

  • Je hebt uitgebreide ervaring met design in B2C organisaties of aan bureau-zijde
  • Je beschikt over een Track record in het leiden van design teams, je hebt eerder een team van de grond af aan opgebouwd
  • Je bent gepassioneerd over het inzetten van technologie voor een maatschappelijk relevant doel
  • Je hebt een pragmatische leiderschapsstijl waarbij je ook zelf als meewerkend voorman/ -vrouw kan optreden in het bijvoorbeeld het leveren van uitstekende grafisch ontwerpen of het faciliteren van workshops
  • Je hebt het vermogen om onderscheidende, intuïtieve, creatieve voorstellen te maken (wireframes, screen mock ups, prototypes)
  • Je beschikt over beheersing van standaardtools in de design community (waaronder Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite) op expert niveau
  • Je hebt ervaring met het uitvoeren van gebruikersonderzoek en testen
  • Je beschikt over uitstekende samenwerkingsvaardigheden met name in cross-functionele teams vanuit product, engineering, sales, marketing, consultancy en support
  • Je hebt het vermogen en enthousiasme om ‘out of the box’ te denken en geheel nieuwe oplossingen voor bestaande problemen te bedenken
  • Je spreekt en schrijft vloeiend Engels en Nederlands

Today, there is a unique opportunity for a senior head of design who is eager to impact a highly relevant industry. We’re looking for a design leader who will drive the user experience of the next generation of childcare and primary education products. As Head of Design you will build, lead, and sustain a scalable design organization by leveraging best practices and establishing bar raising processes.  

About you

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • You will tansform the user experience for the wide variety of KidsKonnect users across the platform
  • You will pave the way for KidsKonnect to become the leading European platform for childcare organisations and primary education by building and executing on the design vision for the next generation of early education tech
  • You will create a scalable, consistent, intuitive, and user-friendly experience for the next generation platformCreate the design vision, represent design in the organisation and build a world-class design team while also being hands on yourself
  • You will develop and design concepts and creative material
  • You will direct, manage and lead designers across product teams
  • You run strategy workshops with the product teams to help inform the product roadmap
  • You will set up an efficient user centric design workflow / process within all squads using best practice design platforms such as Figma
  • You will report into the CPO   


The things you bring to KidsKonnect

  • You have extensive design experience in design-led B2C organisations or agencies
  • You have a  track record of leading design teams, you have led and built design teams from the ground up at B2C companies
  • You are passionate about making a positive impact through technology
  • You have a hands-on, can do, get it done leadership style, not shying away from doing groundwork yourself when needed for example by producing superior graphics if needed or facilitating design sessions with product teams and users
  • You are able to design distinctive, intuitive, creative artefacts (wireframes, screen mock ups, prototypes)
  • You are an expert in command of industry-standard design tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • You are experienced in conducting user research and user testing
  • You have exceptional collaboration skills especially in the context of cross-functional teams from product, engineering, sales, marketing, consultancy and support
  • You have the demonstrable ability and willingness to develop innovative, exciting solutions to business problems
  • You need to be fluent in both English and Dutch
