About the role

As an Engineering Manager, you operate at the intersection of people, technology, and the organization. You lead multiple engineering teams and create the conditions for them to perform at their best autonomously, confidently, and with clear ownership.

Your focus is not on hands-on coding or day-to-day project management, but on people, systems, and results. With your background as a software engineer, you understand the technical context and challenges your teams face. You provide direction at a high level, act as a sparring partner for senior engineers, and ensure alignment between technology, business goals, and customer needs.

Beyond team leadership, you are involved in customer projects, innovation initiatives, and broader IT and organizational responsibilities. You help safeguard quality, continuity, compliance, security, and scalability across the engineering organization, while actively contributing to its long-term growth and evolution.

You bring:

  • A solid background as a software engineer and strong technical understanding

  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing engineers or engineering teams

  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with everyday decision-making

  • Clear and open communication with engineers, stakeholders, and customers

  • Confidence to take responsibility and navigate complex or sensitive situations

  • A strong sense of ownership for quality, sustainability, and long-term impact

Certificate of Conduct (VOG)

Because we work with sensitive (personal) data and are active within the childcare sector, a valid Certificate of Conduct (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag – VOG) is required for everyone who joins Ovivio.

The VOG will be requested by us as part of the hiring process once an offer of employment has been made. Ovivio covers the costs of the application.
